This is a stunning move by the state’s attorney general, Democrat Mark Herring, to eliminate reciprocity agreements with other states and their gun permits.
It is at odds with Chief Cathy Lanier’s remarks, which aired on “60 Minutes” this past weekend. So she expects civilians to take out mass shooters, but she won’t approve gun permits?

Is this surprising? Not at all, especially when good citizens try to apply for firearms (which is a right defended by the upper courts) and yet the police says ‘no thanks.’
This is a win for the Second Amendment for D.C. residents! The city’s ban on carrying firearms was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge in July 2014, and so far, 8 D.C. residents have had their permits approved.
