Rep. J.D. Hayworth

Washington, DC 20515

Dear Rep. Hayworth:

You said about the false Newsweek Koran story: “Newsweek lied. People died.” That’s true. But what will the Congress do about this? If Congress can tackle the issue of steroids in sports, because of their danger to human health, why can’t you take the lead in holding hearings into what can be done about major media organizations that provoke death and destruction with bogus stories? The First Amendment does not preclude Congressional interest in this topic. You have every right to hold hearings into media misdeeds that undermine U.S. foreign policy and threaten to spark more global anti-American terrorism.
