Mr. Lawrence DiRita
Special Assistant to the
Secretary of Defense
1000 Defense Pentagon
Washington, D.C. 20301-1000

Dear Mr. DiRita:
You are in a position to bring some critical facts to the attention of Defense Secretary Rumsfeld and achieve justice in a case that is more than 60 years old. We are talking about the evidence exonerating Admiral Kimmel of dereliction of duty charges in connection with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Members of the Senate as diverse as Senator Kennedy and former Senator Helms supported a congressional bill that authorizes President Bush to advance Admiral Kimmel and General Short to their highest ranks held during World War II. But the President has failed to act. The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association agrees that new evidence supports the case for vindication of these two honorable and patriotic military men who did their best to defend America against foreign attack. Will you take this case to the highest levels in DoD and the U.S. Government?
