Dear Mr. Ashcroft:

I am concerned about Coleen Rowley, the FBI agent who had the integrity and courage to expose the obstacles that had been thrown in the way of the Minneapolis Field Office when it was seeking permission to search Moussaouiís computer. In her letter, Ms. Rowley referred to Dr. Frederic Whitehurst, who tried for years to get the FBI to do something about dishonesty and incompetence in the FBI crime lab. He was eventually vindicated by the DOJ inspector general. Some changes were made, but instead of being honored and promoted, he was shown the door. Experienced whistleblowers are saying that Ms. Rowley will suffer the same fate. Please do all you can to ensure that doesnít happen. The FBI needs the brains, integrity and courage displayed by men and women like Whitehurst and Rowley. Now is the time for the president to honor all whistleblowers, past and present.
