Dear Mr. Heyward:

When televangelist Jim Bakker was exposed in 1987 as having a mistress all the networks gave the story intensive coverage for weeks. The media looked into his business ventures and his lavish lifestyle. Wrongdoing was found and he was convicted of fraud and sent to prison.

When the Rev. Jesse Jackson was exposed in January as having an extramarital affair that produced a 20-month-old love child, not one of the broadcast networks put it on their evening news shows. The print media have exposed the misuse of tax-deductible contributions that went to the mistress. Questions have been raised about how Jackson raises millions and how he uses the money. You have shown no interest in exploring this. Why not?
