Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, the physician for President Trump and for his predecessor in the White House, withdrew his name from consideration to become the next cabinet secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The withdrawal from the nomination process happened due in part to reports by CNN.
CNN cited anonymous sources as saying Jackson handed out prescription pills like candy (earning the nickname “Candy Man”) and drunkenly knocked on a colleague’s door during an overseas trip, where the Secret Service had allegedly to respond and drag him away. Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) highlighted these allegations, as well, without naming sources of those claims.
The Secret Service told the media that no such incident was reported by their agents on the overseas trip.
