Today, President Obama will be holding a town hall meeting on the economy—on Facebook.
To encourage participation, the president posted a 30-second YouTube ad:
Despite the fact that President Obama has over 19 million Facebook friends (according to the New York Times), as of last night, just over 22,000 people total had RSVP’d for the event. That means that fewer than 0.0012% of President Obama’s Facebook friends actually bothered to RSVP the night before. As of 9 am EST this morning, the number had increased to 32, 207—a mere 0.0016 percent.
If you feel bad for President Obama and want to boost his numbers, you can RSVP for the event here. He’ll be taking questions from the audience—maybe you can stump him.
The Facebook page for the event says that the webcast will take place from 4:30-5:30 pm, presumably EST (although the page doesn’t clarify).
