House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez once again criticized President Trump’s economic policies despite the July jobs report released on Friday that showed continued growth.
The Labor Department report showed the economy added 157,000 jobs in July with unemployment remaining at the lowest point this century at 3.9 percent.
“Donald Trump’s reckless policies continue to hurt millions of hardworking families. Despite the promises Donald Trump made to the American people, Trump’s economy isn’t helping most Americans,” Perez said in a statement.
Pelosi also issued a statement criticizing Trump’s policies:
“July’s jobs report shows that the wealthiest 1 percent and big corporations continue to hoard the benefits of the GOP Tax Scam for the rich, while American workers are denied the bigger paychecks they deserve,”
Former Obama economic adviser Jason Furman disputed that claim, telling CNBC that “You are actually seeing faster wage growth at the bottom than at the top.” as employers increase pay to attract workers.
Perez and Pelosi also ignored that for the first time in history the government reported that there are more jobs available than workers to fill them which puts those seeking jobs in a stronger position to demand higher wages.
