Over 300 Teachers Won’t Go to Work on ‘A Day Without Women,’ so School was Canceled

Over three hundred teachers said they planned not to work on “A Day Without Women,” a protest that grew out from the Women’s March on Washington. This from The College Fix [1]:

The Alexandria City Public Schools will be closed Wednesday, March 8 in observance of “A Day Without Women.”

The district made the announcement earlier today after it received notice of 300 teachersrequesting the day off, WJLA reports.

Instead, Wednesday will be designated a “teacher work day for ACPS staff.” This “work day” will be in addition to an already-scheduled such day on Friday.

Per AL.com [2], North Carolina’s Chapel Hill-Carrboro school system will also close as a result of requests from teachers to get the day off.
