With all the attention on a possible ban on bump stocks, which can turn semi-automatic guns into almost-automatic guns by increasing the firing rate, the media did not report that in 2010, the Obama administration approved the use and sale of the gun accessories.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms approved bump-fire stocks for sale in 2010:

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reviewed bump stocks in 2010, in which they said the accessory developed by Slide Fire “has no automatically functioning mechanical parts or springs and performs no automatic mechanical function when installed.”
