Patricia Cohen of the New York Times penned an article lamenting the workload amount that falls on Internal Revenue Service employees due to their shirking workforce and budget.
The article’s headline was, “Have You Ever Felt Sorry for the I.R.S.? Now Might Be the Time.”
The piece also blamed Congress, which has made cuts to the workforce at the tax collection agency.
However, the author did not mention how the American tax code is complex and at times, requires tax professionals to sift through new government regulations. Nor did the piece address how tax reform legislation attempted to simplify the tax code.
