A black teenager named Antonio Martin was shot and killed by a white police officer in a St. Louis suburb Berkeley, sparking protesters and die-in protests at the gasoline station convenience store where he was shot. But, the suburb’s leaders warned that it was not like the Ferguson incident or the Eric Garner case in New York.
The New York Times reported on the incident, quoting the suburb’s black mayor, who said:
“You couldn’t even compare this with Ferguson or the Garner case in New York”
The media did not mention how Garner’s family did not think it was a racial case, but how a police officer overstepped his boundaries and choked Mr. Garner to death. Also, the liberal media failed to report how Michael Brown, the young man killed in Ferguson, had previously assaulted a shop owner and robbed a store prior to his confrontation with police officer Darren Wilson.
In this case, Martin brandished a gun in the direction of the police officer, who was making rounds to local businesses. Martin was shot and killed, but the lack of factual reporting gets in the way of the racial narrative of the liberal media and the likes of Al Sharpton.
