Colin Kaepernick, who stirred controversy by kneeling and not paying respect to the American national anthem, has reversed his position for this upcoming season. His divisive move, complete with him wearing a t-shirt praising communists and murderers like Che Guevara, was while he was a paid quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers franchise.
Now, as a free agent (i.e. unemployed) athlete, Kaepernick decided he will not have to kneel during the anthem this upcoming season due to progress in race relations since his protest.
This didn’t stop the USA Today from praising his protest of the anthem, where they titled their gushing piece, “Why Colin Kaepernick’s protests will resonate.”
