Accuracy in Media

An NBC News headline read,“Trump welcomes new year with lavish party at private club.”

The headline does not mention that the private party was held at one of his golf resorts in Florida, specifically, his resort at Mar-a-Lago.

Editorializing headlines with words such as “lavish” is unfair when it is not applied equally to people from both sides of the political aisle.

For example, the same word, “lavish” was missing in descriptions of White House Correspondent Association dinners held under Obama, which is typically a star-studded black-tie event.
