After President Trump’s travel delay of people coming from seven countries, which is being disputed in the courts, NBC News took the liberty of reporting how some African asylum seekers went to “risk [a] perilous winter trek” to seek residence in America by way of Canada. Because these asylum seekers were denied asylum and refused entry into America, they are technically illegal immigrants.
It is tragic that they had to endure sub-zero temperatures and risk losing fingers to the cold, but it is the rule of law. However, time will tell whether there will be a compromise to allow refugees and asylum seekers to enter the U.S. after some vetting procedures and measures.
