CBS announced its midseason lineup and conspicuously missing from the schedule was the much-hyped Murphy Brown reboot after the network decided against ordering more episodes.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series was always intended to be a closed-ended order of 13 episodes. The series featured the return of star Candice Bergen and original creator, Diane English, which the network hoped would be appeal to anti-Trumpers, but never really found an audience.

The show averaged 6.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 in the key 18-49 demo in its Thursday primetime slot.
