During the course of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the media covered the successes and failures of all participating Olympians.
Some of the highlights for the U.S., for example, were the gold medals for the American women’s hockey team over arch-rival Canada, and America’s first gold medal in men’s curling.
The lowlights of this year’s Olympics were the anti-Trump and anti-Pence statements by gay American Olympians Adam Rippon, a figure skater, and Gus Kenworthy, a snowboarder.
Rippon criticized Vice President Mike Pence over a rumor that alleged Pence supported funding conversion therapy for homosexuals, then waffled publicly on whether he would speak with Pence.
Kenworthy, toward the end of the Olympics, tweeted out an anti-Ivanka Trump social media post:
So proud of all these people! Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! Well… Everyone except Ivanka. Honestly, tf is she doing here?? pic.twitter.com/sfJKi0VTDb
