Media Highlighted Joe Biden’s Criticism of Trump’s Court Comments, but Forgot about Obama’s Criticism of Courts

Why is the liberal media paying attention to a former Democratic vice president named Joe Biden, who is no friend of President Donald Trump, and what he thinks of Trump? One would safely assume that Biden would not have positive reviews of Trump, who defeated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. The media also forgot that Obama criticized the U.S. Supreme Court a good amount during his presidency.

Biden criticized Trump because of his denigration and criticism of the court system. The Washington Post reported [1] that Biden said the following:

“The almost [constant] drumbeat of denigration of the institutional structures that govern us is dangerous,” Biden said during an impassioned speech Wednesday. “When you delegitimize the courts, you delegitimize the legislative body. It’s corrosive. And it makes it almost impossible to reach compromise.”

It is quite a statement coming from Biden, considering that the Obama administration did not compromise in the courts when religious liberty was an issue (i.e. Little Sisters of the Poor opposing Obamacare over religious beliefs).

Also, the Washington Post [2] pointed out that Obama criticized the U.S. Supreme Court a lot more than previous presidents:

“This should be an easy case,” he said [3] earlier this month regarding the latest legal showdown over the Affordable Care Act [4]. “Frankly, it probably shouldn’t even have been taken up.”

…In his more than six years in the White House, Obama has to an unusual degree — for a serving president — offered strong opinions on how the court’s justices should decide cases central to his legacy. In a few instances, those pointed opinions have sounded a lot like outright criticism.
