The media covered the National Football League’s rejection of a veterans group advertisement, which is a direct criticism of the league’s national anthem protests by its players. The veterans group, AMVETS, or American Veterans, applied to run an advertisement asking people to stand for the American national anthem.
The league denied the application, and the media covered the news. Thankfully, the mainstream media outlets did cover it, ranging from Fox News to the Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, and Los Angeles Times.
The controversy over standing or kneeling during the playing of the American national anthem occurred when Colin Kaepernick, a player, kneeled during the anthem. President Donald Trump got into the mix and sparked controversy by saying Kaepernick should not kneel and disrespect the American flag and anthem.
