Accuracy in Media

The liberal media was unsure about the ramifications of the electoral surprise of the German elections of the past week. Germany’s Angela Merkel saw her party place third in her home state, second to the Alternative for Germany party, which party the liberal media has alternated between calling it “far-right”, “nationalist” and “anti-immigrant.” It was the worst loss for her party since German reunification over two decades ago.

Here are some of the headlines:

Reuters: “German anti-immigrant party beats Merkel in her home district”

USA Today: “Chancellor Merkel’s party suffers loss in home state over migrant policy”

New York Times: “Far-right overtakes Angela Merkel’s bloc in her home state”

CNN: “Is Merkel paying the price for the refugee crisis?”

Associated Press: “Nationalists overtake Merkel’s party in German state vote”

Los Angeles Times: “Nationalists overtake Merkel’s party in a German state legislature vote”
