Accuracy in Media

On May 26th Jeremy Joseph Christian was accused of screaming anti-Muslim comments at two young girls. He then stabbed three men as they tried to calm him down. Two of them later died.

The media was quick to report on this story and give it national attention. The story was spun as Christian being a typical alt right white supremacist Trump supporter gone crazy.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) quickly put out a statement condemning President Trump for the attack. “President Trump must speak out personally against the rising tide of Islamophobia and other forms of bigotry and racism in our nation that he has provoked through his numerous statements, policies and appointments that have negatively impacted minority communities,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad

A few days later the Mayor of Portland demanded that two right-leaning rallies be canceled. The first was a Trump Free Speech Rally on June 4th, headed by Kyle Chapman. The second, originally scheduled for June 10, is one of nearly two dozen marches “against Sharia law and for human rights” in several cities planned by the group ACT for America.

Many left-leaning websites such as the Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, The Independent, those maintained by NBC and local news outlets falsely reported that the Portland stabber supported President Trump and are pinning at least part of the blame of the attack on President Trump because of his “rhetoric”

Former presidential candidate Jill Stein tweeted that “Donald Trump must speak out against the vicious Islamophobia he has enabled.” Ironically, Christian is not a Trump Supporter nor a member of the alt-right but actually a Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein supporter.

All of this is revealed after a quick look at his Facebook page which offers a glimpse into his political ideology. Christian describes himself as a “Political Nihilist.” On Facebook, Christian often made threat towards those who supported Trump or Clinton.

On January 12th, he posted “I’ve had it!!! I gonna kill everybody who voted for Trump or Hillary!!! It’s all your fault!!! You’re what’s wrong with this country!!! Reveal yourselves immediately and face your DOOM!!!”

On January 23rd he posted a message aimed at fellow Bernie Sanders supporters saying “Death to Hillary Rodham Clinton and all her supporters!!! To be carried out by Bernie Supporters who didn’t turn traitor and vote Hillary….”

On January 25th even though the election was over,  Christian posted “Sanders/Stein 2017!!! Let’s stop these pipelines and reign in the Prison/Military Industrial Complexes!!!We the People have the right(As enshrined in our Constitution)to change any government by any means necessary!!! If Not Today Then Tomorrow!!!”

He posted his dismay about Attorney General Jeff Sessions on November 21st for his stance on drugs “I can’t wait for Jeff Sessions to be assassinated for his unAmerican hate speech before he becomes Attorney General and heats up the cold drug war again.”

Even by his own admission he admitted he didn’t vote for Trump. On November 11th he said “Just want all my FB Peeps to know I could not bring myself to vote Trump” Yet a large part of the liberal media has continued to paint him as a Trump supporter.

The media cited his attendance at a Free Speech rally where he gave several Nazi salutes and shouted racial slurs as proof of him supporting President Trump. However according to Christian, he went to the rally “be there demasking anyone with a mask. I will attend in Lizard King Regalia as a Political Nihilist to provoke both Sides and attempt to engage anyone in a true philosophy and political discussion.” At the rally Trump supporters distanced themselves for him and claimed he was not with them.

Christian also often posted anti Trump memes, including one on February 17th depicting Trump as an angry orange naked troll with a cell phone. Despite all of this the liberal media has continued to group Christian with the alt-right.

This is a huge double standard from the left. When conservatives make claims that a terror attack was carried out by a Muslim they are quickly called racist. When inevitably it turns out the terrorist was a Muslim, conservatives are called xenophobic and are told that it does not represent the religion of Islam.

When conservatives ask the Muslim world and groups like CAIR to do more to condemn Islamic terrorism they are shunned. However when a lone wolf terrorist who isn’t even a Trump supporter commits an atrocious crime, President Trump and conservatives are to blame, even after Trump condemned the attacks himself two days later.
