The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), has sent more than $2 million to offshore tax havens, according to a report from the Washington Free Beacon. The center publishes a “hate map” that classifies conservative Christian groups like the Family Research Council and Alliance Defending Freedom as “hate groups.”
The hate map was allegedly the inspiration behind a foiled attack at the Family Research Council headquarters in Washington, D.C., which got little media play — CNN’s story ignored the connection to the SPLC and their political motivation. No source covered the story Friday when the report went public.
Conservatives have considered the SPLC itself a hate group for its rhetoric against right-leaning organizations and also point blame at the center for the recent shooting of Republican Rep. Steve Scalise.
