Accuracy in Media

The headlines tell the story from the liberal media perspective:

  • NPR’s headline used a part of the statement from the North Carolina GOP, “NC GOP says NCAA should focus concern on the women ‘raped at Baylor’.
  • The Washington Post article featured four tweets supportive of the NCAA’s decision and had one quote on the HB2 side, Governor Phil Bryant of Mississippi. Is that fair?
  • USA Today’s article ran the same quote from the state GOP and then posted a tweet of the statement, only quoting that one statement while quoting a LGBT activist and NCAA president Mark Emmert.
  • NBC News’ article may be the fairest of all of these examples, which gave the NCAA statement and excerpted a different sentence from the state GOP’s statement than the other articles.
