Accuracy in Media

According to Howard Kurtz of Fox News, President Trump has decided to cancel the annual White House Christmas party for the press, ending a decades-long tradition in a sign of just how contentious Trump’s relationship with the media has been since he took office.

The party was considered a significant perk for the White House Press Corps and others lucky enough to get an invitation, which allowed journalists to feast on a catered buffet of lamb chops, crab claws and elaborate desserts while roaming the White House.

No matter what the journalists thought of the Commander-in-Chief, they patiently waited in line to get a photo with the president in front of a Christmas tree and a few minutes of chit-chat, which was the highlight of the evening.

Last year Trump indicated that he wasn’t a big fan of the party as he made a brief appearance with first lady Melania Trump, made a few opening remarks but chose not to pose for pictures.

The White House is still holding other Christmas parties this year and will likely be inviting select members of the press to some of those events.
