Sen. Tim Scott (R.-S.C.) is the first black U.S. Senator since 1897 and was a part of tax reform legislation efforts.

However, that information was lost on a HuffPo contributor, who claimed the senator was a “prop” for the GOP at a tax reform event before the Christmas holiday.

Scott was in the front row of GOP politicians at the White House, where the party and President Donald Trump were celebrating the passage of tax reform legislation.

Andy Ostroy tweeted the following:

What a shocker… there’s ONE black person there and sure enough they have him standing right next to the mic like a manipulated prop. Way to go @SenatorTimScott. #trump#taxscambill

After the outcry over his tweet, Ostroy removed the offensive tweet and apologized to the senator for his accusation.
