The mainstream media continues to cover former presidential candidate and secretary of state Hillary Clinton as she makes public appearances and makes excuses for her stunning Election Day loss to President Donald Trump. She has blamed the media and others for her loss, but not herself.
This time, Clinton claimed her support for capitalism did her in with more left-leaning Democratic Party voters, a reference to avowed socialist Bernie Sanders.
Clinton told an audience the following:
“It’s hard to know but I mean if you’re in the Iowa caucuses and 41 percent of Democrats are socialists or self-described socialists, and I’m asked ‘Are you a capitalist?’ and I say, ‘Yes, but with appropriate regulation and appropriate accountability.’ You know, that probably gets lost in the ‘Oh my gosh, she’s a capitalist!’”
In the end, Clinton lost because of her e-mail scandal, a lack of concrete messaging, avoiding rallies in what her campaign considered were safe bets for support (i.e. Wisconsin), and other campaign mistakes, but not due to her beliefs in capitalism.
