Accuracy in Media

HBO host John Oliver has consistently attacked the Trump administration and its officials throughout the executive branch since President Donald Trump’s election in 2016.

This time, Oliver took aim at Vice President Mike Pence over his wife and daughter’s book about their pet rabbit named Marlon Bundo. Daughter Charlotte Pence wrote the poetry in the book, “Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of a Vice President,” and Karen Pence drew the illustrations. The book’s sales will go to several charities, including an art therapy program called Tracy’s Kids and an anti-slavery and anti-sex-trafficking nonprofit called A21.

Oliver touted his own book, which features a gay pet rabbit, and said it’s a “better Bundo book.”

Oliver’s objection is to a book tour event hosted by Focus on the Family, which organization Oliver called “anti-LGBTQ.” The proceeds from Oliver’s book will go to AIDS United and an LGBTQ youth initiative called Trevor’s Project.
