Accuracy in Media

Fox Nation, the new online subscription news service launched by Fox News Channel in November, will release new documentary that explores how CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather’s obsession with bringing down President George W. Bush resulted in the end of his career at the network.

The documentary, “Black Eye: Dan Rather and the Birth of Fake News,” covers the decision by Rather and CBS News to run a story involving unauthenticated memos claiming Bush received favorable treatment during his time in the Texas Air National Guard.

Despite an independent panel report that Rather and others at CBS News, ignored the mounting evidence that there were problems with the documents on which they based their story, Rather has repeatedly defended his action for the past 14 years.

Rather left CBS in 2006 and now reports for Mark Cuban’s cable network AXS TV. Rather has also formed his own production company, News and Guts Media, in 2015 which produces his own show The Big Interview on AXS.
