Firefighters Shot in Maryland, One Dies

The suspect was in custody, but was released. He shot two firefighters [1] who responded to a call in Temple Hills, Maryland, which is a city east of Washington, D.C. Sadly, one passed away within a couple hours of being shot. It appears the suspect thought it was a home invasion; tragic:

Prince George’s County Police Department spokeswoman Julie Parker identified the deceased fireman as John Ulmschneider, 37, a husband and father of a 2-year-old girl. Parker said Ulmschneider was a 13-year veteran of the Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services. He was shot in the upper body, officials said.
