Accuracy in Media

During last week’s State of the Union address, President Donald Trump asked for unity and bipartisanship in Congress. Despite his call for bipartisanship, the majority of Democratic Party politicians did not stand or applaud any part of his speech.

In his speech in Ohio, Trump played to the audience and suggested that Democrats’ form of protest was “treasonous”:

“They were like death and un-American. Un-American. Somebody said, ‘Treasonous.’ I mean, yeah, I guess, why not?”
“Can we call that treason? Why not?”
CNN’s article hinted that it was hypocritical to “preach bipartisanship” and then make these remarks about the Democrats committing treason. But, in the same breath, the authors said Democrats’ unwillingness to clap or support any part of his speech would “make it much more difficult” for him to work with them on bipartisan legislation.
