Last week, CNN erroneously reported that Donald Trump, Jr., had preliminary access to hacked files from WikiLeaks thanks to Russian operatives and WikiLeaks on September 14, 2016. The network ran with the story, but the Washington Post pointed out that the CNN report was false .
By September 14, everyone had access to the hacked files from WikiLeaks since WikiLeaks made the files public ten days prior.
CNN issued a correction to their story, which reads as follows:
Correction: This story has been corrected to say the date of the email was September 14, 2016, not September 4, 2016. The story also changed the headline and removed a tweet from Donald Trump Jr., who posted a message about WikiLeaks on September 4, 2016.
