CNN ran a piece where they highlighted the American Medical Association’s opposition to the repeal-and-replace legislation of Obamacare, unveiled by Republican lawmakers this week. In their piece, entitled, “American Medical Association opposes GOP health care bill,” there was no mention of their own article that cited AMA’s backing of Obamacare in 2009.
If one used Google or any search engine, one would find that the AMA heralded Obamacare in the following manner on their website:
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a comprehensive reform law, enacted in 2010, that increases health insurance coverage for the uninsured and implements reforms to the health insurance market. This includes many provisions that are consistent with AMA policy and holds the potential for a better health care system. The ACA represents a tremendous step forward on the path toward meaningful health system reform, and additional steps will follow.
