The Associated Press did an article on the SHOT Show, a national gun show that is held in Las Vegas every year for at least the past 20 years. But this year’s story was not just about the gun show.
The article’s headline reads, “Gun industry converges near Las Vegas mass shooting site.” Considering the show has been held there for decades, the headline serves to make it appear that the gun industry does not care about the Las Vegas mass shooting.
The AP also quoted a pro-gun control advocacy organization and repeated the oft-used (and oft-debunked) “gun show loophole” argument used by advocates of gun control.
The argument is that people can buy guns at gun shows without undergoing a background check. Despite their claims, gun purchasers have to go through background checks in order to purchase guns at gun shows.
