WASHINGTON — Zimbabwe is going through another presidential election and there is little indication that anything will change.
Reuters reports Robert Mugabe and his lifelong opponent and current Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, are facing off in the latest presidential election.
Mugabe is the 89-year-old incumbent president and who has destroyed the Zimbabwean economy with devastating inflation while rigging the vote. Tsvangirai is trying to oust Mugabe for the third time in his career and become the second leader of Zimbabwe’s history. Mugabe has ruled the country since its independence from Britain in 1980.
Polling is non-existent and the results most likely will be disputed by either side.
