WASHINGTON — Ukraine, after their parliament voted out President Viktor Yanukovich for his pro-Russia ties, is now facing economic hardship and possibly a military intervention by Russia.
Reuters reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin put his country’s troops on high alert for war games close to Ukraine. It is a strong indication from Putin to Ukraine for ousting an ally.
Ukraine has asked the West for financial aid, after Russia said it will put a hold on a $15 billion aid package to Ukraine. Now, with aggressive military drills close to Ukraine, the protest movement and new government are facing another potential threat to the country.
