WASHINGTON — The Communist Chinese government is livid at the United States, which has formally accused five Chinese military officers of hacking into American company databases to steal trade secrets.
Reuters reported that China summoned the American ambassador, Max Baucus, to clear the air over the formal charges. Baucus was the infamous Montana Democratic U.S. Senator who called ObamaCare a “train wreck ” before accepting the ambassador post in China.
Baucus was to meet with China’s assistant foreign minister Zheng Zeguang on Monday. The action by the American government signals that there is still significant tension between the two major trade partners.
The charges were the first criminal hacking charges that the American government has brought against Chinese officers and officials, after months of rhetorical fireworks between the two sides. China even accused the U.S. National Security Agency of spying on Chinese companies .
China is also asserting its power in Asia, which has forced Vietnam , the Philippines , Japan and other nations to align with the United States. Mostly, the issues revolve around Chinese warships and military personnel aggressively occupying disputed island chains , which have access to mineral resources. China even sent jet patrols toward Japanese air space during a dispute over the Senkaku (or Diaoyu) Islands.
