U.N. Chemical Weapons Inspectors to delay Inspections by a Day

WASHINGTON — The United Nations chemical weapons inspection team is delaying their investigations by a day after being attacked this week.

un convoy [1]Reuters reports [2] the U.N. team is worried about safety and security, especially after the West indicated it might step into the Syrian civil war and intervene.

The U.N. convoy was shot at by snipers on Monday and said the delay is to “improve preparedness and safety for the team”. Also, given that the next site in the Damascus suburbs is in a war zone, the team has to await a “confirmation of access”.

This comes as this team had waited for approval for weeks from Assad’s Syrian government and was only approved recently.
