WASHINGTON — A Pakistani suicide bombing struck a police funeral and killed 30 people.
Reuters reports that somehow the suicide bomber was able to make it past layers of security and detonated his bomb vest and killed five senior police officers in addition to 25 others.
Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera said, “They are not Muslims. They are not humans,” referring to the attack masterminds. He went on to say, “We have no other option but to fight against terrorists,” he said. “We have made sacrifices and we will continue to do so and we will not bow down.”
62 people were wounded by the bombing and in total, 22 police officers were killed.
It also underscores the domestic political situation, where the military is upset at the civilian government’s treatment of a formerly exiled military dictator Pervez Musharraf.
