WASHINGTON — Russian President Vladimir Putin brought up an idea to amnesty two members of the punk protest band Pussy Riot and 30 Greenpeace activists that protested close to a Russia oil rig.

greenpeace activists arrestedReuters reported that Putin plans to amnesty these detainees to mark this month’s anniversary of the adoption of Russia’s post-Communist constitution in 1993.

Those who have been convicted of hooliganism will be released, per conditions of the proposed amnesty, which the two Pussy Riot members were charged with. This will only happen if parliament approved the proposed draft from Putin, but parliament is loyal to Putin.
