WASHINGTON — One of Apple’s first computers, a 1976 model that still works, has been sold for a record amount of $668,000.
As reported by the Associated Press, the German auction house Breker said that a client bought the Apple 1, which Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak built in a family garage. It is one of six remaining working models of the Apple 1, according to Breker. Breker sold another model last year for about $637,000.
The computer has Wozniak’s signature and an old business transaction letter from the late Steve Jobs was included as a part of the deal.
The Apple 1 sold for $666 in 1976 and only had one circuit board, requiring a case, keyboard and screen to be bought separately.
