WASHINGTON — ObamaCare continues to sink the Democratic Party and their leader, President Barack Obama. Even after a press conference, called to address ObamaCare’s problems of implementation and enrollment online, support has fractured his own party.
Reuters reported that 39 Democrats broke from the party ranks in the House of Representatives to vote with the House Republicans.
The “Keep Your Plan” Act was passed in a bipartisan manner, unlike ObamaCare. ObamaCare was rammed through Congress along strict party lines. Now the Democrats are paying the price for a health care law that has crippled America’s individual insurance market. It is the legal go-around for Republicans to try to at least delay and temporarily fix this large problem.
But, it most likely won’t make it in the Democratic-controlled Senate. If it did, it would promptly be vetoed by Obama. It is ironic because Obama proposed the same thing this past week, except by using executive powers. Many doubt that he could actually circumvent his own law’s provisions, which require these plans to be canceled and little-to-no-room for political maneuvering.
Even Senate Democrats are abandoning ship, such as red-state Democratic Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Mark Begich of Alaska.
The bill passed by a vote of 261 in favor and 157 against.
Obama is now being held accountable, even by his own party.
