WASHINGTON — One of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s allies in the Russian parliament said that Putin could sell arms to Iran if an American strike hits Syria.
Reuters reported that Alexei Pushkov, who heads the lower house of parliament’s foreign affairs committee, was a warning to the U.S.
U.S. President Barack Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry have drawn blanks as to push the American people and Congress to intervene in the two-year-old Syrian civil war. Obama even called Putin a “bored kid” in foreign affairs.
A majority of Americans do not want to intervene outright and favor a slower process. Congress has slowly announced their opposition to any hasty intervention plan, although the Senate passed a war resolution in one of their committees last week.
Obama and Kerry have backtracked from their remarks as Russia has strongly indicated it will intervene on the opposite side of the U.S. What no one talked about was how Russia has $14 billion in arms sales with Syria.
