Obama to Egypt protesters: Let’s talk it out guys!

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Barack Obama, on tour in Africa, recently weighed in on the impending democratic crisis [1] in Egypt.

anti morsi protests [2]A Reuters article [3] put it best with their front-page title, “Obama tells Egyptians to talk, not fight”.

Obama warned Egyptian protesters, who burned a Muslim Brotherhood office in Alexandria, of the escalating violence. He told both liberal democracy activists (the opposition) and the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood to “engage in a more constructive conversation” regarding their differences.

The conflict arises over the perceived power grabs and belligerence of the Muslim Brotherhood, which dominates the country’s parliament [4] and its leader, Mohammed Morsi, is the president of the country [5]. Democracy activists and bloggers have been persecuted and imprisoned [6] under Morsi, and coupled with a weak economy [7], unrest has evolved into another round of demonstrations and protests.

Some have complained in the U.S. that all Obama does is talk the talk, regarding all of his scandals. To name a few, the Obama administration is recovering from the Department of Justice spying [8] on Associated Press reporters, the Fast and Furious [9] gun walking scandal that killed a U.S. Border Patrol agent, the NSA surveillance program [10] uncovered by leaker Edward Snowden, the bloody terrorist attacks in Benghazi [11], Libya that killed the U.S. ambassador and other personnel and the IRS targeting [12] scandal.

Yet, nothing has come to fruition as a result of the revelation of these scandals, only calls for patience and congressional panels and committees. It leaves many Americans frustrated, but the American liberal mainstream media continues to march to the drum of Obama.
