WASHINGTON — U.S. President Barack Obama told Congress that he will not accept any proposal to defund his health care law, known as ObamaCare.
Reuters reported that Obama will meet with Congressional leaders before the September 30th deadline to keep the government funded.
Obama kicked the can down the road to Capitol Hill, with White House spokesman Jay Carney saying, “the bottom line: Congress needs to act responsibly in order to ensure the government does not shut down”.
Republicans in the House voted to defund ObamaCare while funding the government, and without it the government will shut down. Democrats in the Senate have objected to the tactics, even with ObamaCare’s popularity at an all-time low as premiums skyrocket and families left out in the cold of uninsured limbo.
