WASHINGTON — Environmentalists and animal preservationists are up in arms over the Obama administration’s lack of enforcement at wind farms.
According to the Associated Press, at one wind farm in Wyoming, the wind turbines have killed more than 48 golden eagles since 2009.
So much for being environmentally-friend wind turbines.
Although each death is a criminal violation, the companies that operate the wind turbines have not paid fines. The deaths of protected birds like golden eagles would be heavily prosecuted if it were a sole individual, surmise animal preservationists.
Oil companies have been fined by the Obama administration for drowning protected birds in their waste pits and power companies for electrocuting birds on power lines, but nothing has been done regarding wind turbines.
The matter is before the House Natural Resources Committee.
