WASHINGTON — Scandal after scandal pile on and there seems to be no relief in sight for the Obama administration. Benghazi, IRS and targeting Tea Party groups and conservative media, the Associated Press (AP) wiretaps and now Holder’s alleged perjury?
Reuters reports that the Obama administration responded to Republicans and said that Attorney General Eric Holder did not lie to Congress. GOP lawmakers questioned Holder’s role in investigations into reporter’s sources and information.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has been under severe scrutiny as of late, after it was discovered they tapped the phone lines of the AP in addition to Fox News reporter James Rosen. The AP has since said that its reporters are struggling to talk to sources about sensitive information due to the scandal.
Reporters like NBC’s Lisa Myers said that couldn’t believe if Obama and Holder signed off on this act, further displaying the liberal media’s disbelief at the actions of their presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Holder, in a May 15 hearing before a congressional committee, said that he was not involved in the prosecution of Fox News reporter James Rosen, whose source for a story has since been jailed on different charges. But, it was discovered that he sgned off on a search warrant and subpoena records for Rosen.
Even the New York Times got into the fray, reporting that White House officials have discussed the possibility of letting Holder go, who has been the attorney general since 2009.
In the search warrant affidavit, the DOJ listed Rosen as a co-conspirator in espionage.
