Israel Blasts Obama’s pro-Iran Policy, Obama gives him a call

WASHINGTON — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized and called out U.S. policy over Iran and their nuclear talks with the renegade Middle Eastern country.

obama on the phone [1]Reuters reported [2] that Obama called Netanyahu to discuss his concerns about America’s hands-off policy toward Iran.

Netanyahu gave a stern warning to Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry and his European colleagues about kowtowing to a militant Iran. Iran, said Netanyahu, would get “the deal of the century” if they agreed to their current deal. Iran would have temporary relief from tough sanctions, and in return they would suspend aspects of their nuclear proliferation program and promise not to expand it.

“Israel utterly rejects it and what I am saying is shared by many in the region, whether or not they express that publicly,” said Netanyahu.

Netanyahu and Obama have never seen eye-to-eye over Obama’s American foreign policy dealings in the Middle Eastern region. Israel was pushed to release Palestinian prisoners [3] who killed Israelis with impunity in order to jump start another round of peace talks. Iranian dissidents warned that Iran has moved several of its nuclear facilities deep underground [4], making it tougher to target in a possible attack. Iran has also exploited several loopholes [5] in sanctions to get materials to eventually assemble missile warheads, and has boosted their uranium enrichment [6] capabilities.

Israel was upset that the pro-U.S. Egyptian government under Hosni Mubarak was toppled without opposition from the American government. Mubarak had been on cool terms with the Israelis, but held up his end in preventing Islamists from going between the two countries.

Mubarak’s successor, the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Morsi, reversed such policies and welcomed a visit [7] from former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Morsi has since been deposed by the military after millions called for his removal [8], replaced with an interim government [9] and is standing trial [10] for his crimes.
