WASHINGTON — Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked students in northeastern Nigeria.

boko haram massacres studentsReuters reported that gunmen broke into a local college and shot 40 male students dead as they slept and others after pulling them out of buildings to be executed.

As the Reuters article quoted witnesses and residents, it was a brutal targeting of students and no mercy was granted to the male students. One witness said the terrorists gathered students into groups outside then would go from one group to another, killing one before moving onto the next one, calling it “so terrible”.

Boko Haram is a militant and violent Islamist group in northern Nigeria that is trying to establish an Islamist state in that region. They now targeting civilians as the Nigerian military has come down hard on the movement. Nigeria asked for help from neighboring Niger, who is obligated to help by way of a security pact.

This terrorist attack, which the media refrains from calling it so, occurred on the heels of a devastating terrorist attack on a mall in Nairobi, Kenya, where dozens were held hostage and al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabab terrorists killed civilians as they shopped and tried to get away.
