WASHINGTON — Even with the government partially shut down, the Democrats are not budging from their position to reject any Republican proposals to keep parts of the government running.
Reuters reported that this time, the House Democrats rejected the House GOP’s effort to keep national parks open. It received a majority vote, but needed a 2/3 majority to pass.
The vote count was 252 in favor of keeping the parks open and 176 against.
The Obama administration and the Democrats in both the House and Senate plan on rejecting any proposal that funds part of the federal government but not as a whole.
