Google’s latest Offer could end EU’s anti-trust case

WASHINGTON — Google’s long-running antitrust case with the European Union may be coming to a close sooner rather than later.

google sign [1]Reuters reported [2] that Google offered the leader of the EU competition body a deal that it may not be able to refuse. Google could put the three-year-old antitrust case against them to rest with this new set of concessions [3].

The terms of the concessions were not revealed to the public, but it addressed the concern that Google blocked competitors in search engine results. At least a dozen competitors [4], ranging from Microsoft and British price comparison website Foundem complained that Google squeezed them out of the search engine market.

If Google’s concessions are rejected, it runs the risk of facing a fine of 10% of its global revenue, or $5 billion.
